     Lynne L. Hathaway, 79, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
     A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, with Monsignor Gray, presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. There will be an additional visitation one hour prior to the mass at the church. 
     Lynne was born on September 17, 1937, to the late Larry and Gertrude (Kanter) Lawrence in Peoria. She graduated from Woodruff High School and then St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Bloomington. She later received a bachelor’s degree in social work from ISU and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois. She worked for Catholic Social Services in family counseling, Zeller Mental Health Center and in private practice for Agape Counseling. She last worked as the Peoria coordinator for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
     She volunteered over the years for many organizations including, St. Jude Teen March, various church and school related activities, including CCD teacher, Brownie leader and as a member of several Cursillo and Prison Teams.
     Lynne is survived by her husband, Jack; brother, Jim Lawrence of Peoria; children, Bob (Betty) Puentes of Cathedral City, CA, Tim (Traci) Puentes of Washington and Marta (Lee) Watts of Jupiter, FL; step-children, John (Lori) Hathaway of Traverse City, MI and Dan (Staci) Hathaway of Potterville, MI; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and was blessed with many caring friends.
     She loved her husband, children and grandchildren, dearly. She loved to read, play Words with Friends on her Nook, do crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and can best be characterized by her infectious smile and amazing faith and attitude. Lynn lived a life of gratitude and despite many physical struggles, never complained.
     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynne’s memory to Food for the Poor, Inc., Catholic Relief Services, EWTN-TV or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
